The Result ~
Jennifer’s new website was built using Wordpress as a content management system enabling her to make ongoing changes and updates without knowing html or having web-technical skills. Musician websites are the perfect application for this option, with constant changes required to their websites for schedule updates and new music adds. Highlights from the site include:
- Event management: No more tables to manipulate – event data is now entered into a simple form that populates an automatically-formatted page.
- Music: Uploading and adding music to a page is accomplished quickly and easily. The flash player is customized to coordinate with the look and feel of the website.
- News: The website has three methods to get news and updates to followers. The first is a subscription capability allowing visitors to sign up for updates. Each time a news article is published, it is automatically sent to anyone that has subscribed. Next, articles can be featured on the home page with a simple check of a box when the article is written. Last, a compilation of all news and updates is automatically created and accessible from the navigation bar, with articles displayed in reverse chronological order. All three features are optional.
- Ad inventory: The ads for upcoming events are created and loaded into an “ad inventory” section. Ads can then be displayed by simply dragging and dropping them to the desired position (on Jennifer’s site, one on the right sidebar and three in the footer) and changing the date in the title. The advertisements link to the events or calendar page.
- Contact: The contact page uses a form, with the information eMailed to one or more addresses upon completion. Forms can contain simple contact information, like Jennifer’s, or be more complex, like the form used on the Seven Aspens site.
- Bio: The bio page on Jennifer’s website is the only upgrade to the standard website design package for musicians. The pages require graphic design and set up, with pricing quoted per project. A standard page would include content and images, similar to the Booking page.
Websites designed for musicians can also include integration of other commercial event scheduling data, Google calendars, video, or other custom features. Find out more about the Seven Aspens Website Design Package.
