Facebook: A Friendly Social Media Experience

Facebook is one of the top social networking tools on the web, so why not give it a try as a social utility for connecting your business with the world?

If you aren’t on Facebook already, signing up is simple .  If you set up a Facebook page a while back, maybe you should dust it off and see if there are some business networking possibilities.
A Facebook Business Profile:   It’s surprising how many people create a professional profile on LinkedIn or Plaxo, yet turn them loose on Facebook, and you get high school party pics, favorite colors and philosophical comments on everything from Thai food to movies.  If you have or want a very personalized Facebook page, keep in mind that the same people that can find you on LinkedIn can search and find you on Facebook, so change the privacy settings for friends only.

Facebook business apps:  There are thousands of applications that can be added to your Facebook profile. ReadWriteWeb and FacebookObserver have both published lists of apps that can provide added functionality and usefulness for business professionals.

Groups: You can search for professional groups to join, find ones that other colleagues have joined to see if they are a good fit, or create one of your own on a business topic.
