Technorati indexes blogs and other social media on the web, categorizing the information for users to access on the Technorati website.   Users can view news, top stories and blog posts by category or search by a specific term.   Blogs, photos and videos can be located by topic or by search terms.
According to Technorati, they currently track over 112 million blogs and over 250 million pieces of tagged social media, with another 175,000 new blogs created every day.

Technorati Terminology

Tags are labels that writers add to assist users with locating blog posts, photos and videos related to the topic they are seeking.

Authority rankings are based on the number of other blogs that have linked to the blog in the last 6 months.

Favorites allow users to mark a blog as a favorite and track it from their profile page.

Dallas on Technorati:  A search for blogs about Dallas (Dallas as the tag) returned 2,924 blogs.  A search for posts tagged Dallas returned nearly 30,000.

Getting Started:

The Technorati website can be used anonymously to search blogs and posts.  However, to track information and blogs, a profile needs to be created.  Membership is free.

Once a profile is created, blogs can be claimed and easily be added to your profile and the Technorati network.
